Invasive Species Control Plan

Hickory Woods controlled burn 2021 map

Work crews will be out in the parks starting the week of March 15th. The township has contracted with Cardno for Spring treatment of invasive species at Hickory, Marsh View Meadows, Prairie Park, Lillie South, and the Preserve. This includes clearing away of woody brush, and prescribed burns, as required. To learn more about invasive species infestations and the threat they present to native plant and wildlife species, aesthetics, green infrastructure services, and other ecologic and economic systems; please read a full report of our Invasive Species Inventory and Management Plan.

The burn at the Johnson Preserve will likely take place sometime in March or April. However, depending on weather, it may take place as late as May. Letters have been sent to neighbors of the preserve, primarily to the northwest, west, southwest, and south given the location of this year's burn. The Legacy Land Conservancy will be conducting prescribed burns at the Johnson Preserve for several years in a row (possibly through 2024). For more information, please read the letter from the Legacy Land Conservancy.
