Candidate Information
Running for Office:
To file for public office in the Township, complete an Affidavit of Identity, and pay a non-refundable $100 filing fee (MCL 168.349(2)) OR solicit 50-100 signatures by circulating a Nominating Petition. Affidavits and petition forms can be picked up at the Township Clerk’s Office located at 6201 W. Michigan Avenue, Ann Arbor, 48108 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, or requested from the Washtenaw County Clerk’s Office. The completed Affidavit of Identity, petition, or filing fee must be completed and submitted to the Clerk’s Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on April 23, 2024. Campaign finance information must be filed with the Washtenaw County Clerk’s Office located at 220 N. Main Street, Ann Arbor, 48104, or submitted via email to elections@washtenaw.org.
To run as a write-in candidate after the official filing deadline has passed, file a Declaration of Intent at the Township Clerk’s Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on the second Friday prior to the election, and file campaign finance information with the Washtenaw County Clerk’s Office. Filing to be a Precinct Delegate:
To file to be a precinct delegate and appear on the ballot in the precinct in which you are registered and reside within, complete an Affidavit of Identity and file at the County Clerk’s Office. Affidavits of Identity are also available at the Township Clerk’s Office located at 6201 W. Michigan Avenue, Ann Arbor, 48108 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Note that petition signatures are not required or accepted. The deadline for filing to be a precinct delegate is 4:00 p.m. on May 7, 2024. Michigan election law requires that a precinct delegate candidate must be a qualified and registered elector residing within the election precinct for which he or she desires to become a candidate.
In order to become a valid write-in Precinct Delegate candidate, an individual must file a Declaration of Intent with the Washtenaw County Clerk’s Office by 4:00 p.m. on the Friday preceding the August primary, or at their precinct before the close of polls at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
