The focus of this subcommittee will be on connections between the varying land uses within the township as well as the relationship to neighboring communities and the region. It will be important to explore ways in which our transportation network can link people to jobs, recreational opportunities, and open spaces. Existing local and regional initiatives such as the Border to Border trail, bus transit, or commuter rail connections should be considered. It should explore ways of promoting a variety of transportation options, with an emphasis on non-motorized transportation. This component must be developed in conjunction with the existing land use pattern and the Future Land Use Plan because of the intrinsic relationship between land use and transportation. Particularly related to non-motorized transportation infrastructure, consideration should be made for best practices exhibited in other communities within the United States as well as communities in Europe.
