Investigative Services

The investigative services division, under the command of a Detective Sergeant, is comprised of officers assigned to specialist positions for the investigation of serious incidents or proactive and community engagement.

Investigative Services Unit

A team of investigators and detectives that work cohesively to investigate crimes while protecting lives and property of the public in the township. Under the general direction of a Detective Sergeant, three (3) detectives generally focus attention upon the investigation of assigned criminal cases, ranging from property crimes to homicide.

School Resource Officer (SRO)

The department participates in a collaboration with Saline Area Schools to provide a full-time police officer assigned to the Saline High School. The SRO is responsible for working with school staff to provide a safe, secure environment, enforce law violations that occur on school property, and engage the school community in education, safety, and intelligence sharing.

Arson Investigations

Assigned officers receive specialized fire training in arson investigations and are responsible for investigating all suspicious fire incidents and working closely with the Fire Department and the investigative services unit.

Narcotics

The department participates with the Livingston and Washtenaw Narcotics Enforcement Team (LAWNET), which is a multi-jurisdictional narcotics enforcement task force commanded by the Michigan State Police. Officers will work closely with Pittsfield Police road patrol to assist with narcotic cases and intelligence sharing. Officers may act in an undercover capacity to investigate, arrest and prosecute narcotic offenders.
