May 4, 2021 Special Election Information & Ballot Drop Box Available at Township Hall

A ballot drop box has been installed at the curb near the front entrance of the Administration Building, 6201 W. Michigan Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48108, and is available 24 hours a day. 

Ballots for the May 4, 2021 Special Election may be:

  • Submitted in person at the Clerk's Office by 8:00 PM on May 4, 2021
  • Placed in the drop box by 8:00 PM on May 4, 2021

Absentee Voting 

For your convenience, the Clerk's Office will be open on Saturday, May 1st from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM to issue absent voter ballots in person. Absent Voter Ballots will continue to be available at the Clerk’s Office through Monday May 3rd, 2021 at 4:00 PM.

Completed absent voter ballots can be dropped off at the Clerk’s Office during business hours, or placed in the drop box at the Administration Building (6201 W. Michigan Avenue). All ballots must be in the Clerk’s Office before 8:00 PM on Election Day to be processed by the Absent Voter Counting Board.

Election Information

The Special Election will be held for the purpose of voting on the following proposal:

Public Safety Millage Proposal

Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be imposed on taxable property within the Charter Township of Pittsfield, County of Washtenaw, Michigan be increased in an amount not to exceed 3.95 mills ($3.95 on each $1,000.00 of taxable value) for a period of 10 years, beginning in the year 2022 and ending in the year 2031, inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds to the Department of Public Safety for operating expenses; for sworn police officers, firefighters and support personnel; for replacement and additional fire apparatus and equipment acquisition; for repairs to existing facilities; and for related program support for the Department of Public Safety? It is estimated that 3.95 mills would raise approximately $8,413,162 when first levied in 2022.

The polls will be open from 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM.

The polling locations for the Special Election are as follows:

  • Precinct 1 & 8: Pittsfield Township Administration Building - 6201 W. Michigan Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48108
  • Precinct 2 & 13: Carpenter Elementary School - 4250 Central Boulevard, Ann Arbor, MI 48108
  • Precinct 3 & 4: *Carpenter Elementary School - 4250 Central Boulevard, Ann Arbor, MI 48108
  • Precinct 5: Ann Arbor District Library – Pittsfield Branch - 2359 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108
  • Precinct 6 & 10: Arab American Cultural Center - 4377 Textile Road, Ypsilanti, MI 48197
  • Precinct 7 & 9: Pittsfield Township Community Center - 701 W. Ellsworth Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48108
  • Precinct 11 & 12: Saline High School - 1300 Campus Parkway, Saline, MI 48176

*Precincts 3 and 4 have been temporarily relocated from Chinmaya Mission, 4760 Packard Street, to Carpenter Elementary School, 4250 Central Boulevard for the May Special Election only.

Voter Registration

The last day to register to vote in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk for the May 4, 2021 Special Election is Monday, April 19, 2021. After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL 168.492) at the Pittsfield Charter Township Clerk's Office, 6201 W. Michigan Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48108 at the following times:

  • Regular business hours: Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Election Day, May 4, 2021 from 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM
