[ARCHIVED] Notice of Hearing on Special Assessment - Meadows of Arbor Ridge Phase 1

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Township Board of Pittsfield Charter Township has provided street lighting within the Meadows of Arbor Ridge Phase I Neighborhood, consisting of five 52W LED colonial streetlight fixtures on 14’ fiberglass poles which were installed and energized in October of 2017, and has tentatively designated the special assessment district against which the operating cost of street lighting is to be assessed as consisting of the Meadows of Arbor Ridge Phase I Neighborhood, lots bearing the parcel ID numbers listed above. 

Plans and estimates for said street lighting have been prepared and are on file with the Township Clerk for public examination at 6201 W. Michigan Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48108, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, or by emailing

Any person having an interest in this matter may be heard at this meeting. Written comments can be submitted to the Township Clerk at the address or email listed above. All comments must be received no later than 3:00 PM the day of the hearing.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Township Board, located at 6201 W. Michigan Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48108, will hold a virtual public hearing on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 6:30 PM for the purpose of hearing any objections which may be offered against creating the district and defraying the expenses thereof by special assessment, and setting the SAD tax roll commencing in 2021. Further instructions on participating in public comment will be provided once the meeting has been called to order in order to ensure two-way communication between the Township Board and members of the public.

Appearance and protest at the hearing in the special assessment proceedings is required in order to appeal the amount of the special assessment to the state tax tribunal. An owner or party in interest, or his or her agent may appear in person at the hearing to protest the special assessment, or may file his or her appearance or protest by letter and his or her personal appearance shall not be required. Written protests shall be filed with the Township Clerk before the hearing.

If written objections are filed, in writing, prior to the hearing by the record owners of land constituting more than 20% of the total land area in the proposed special assessment district, the Township Board shall not create the district or assessments and all proceedings for the formation of the district or assessments shall be terminated.

Periodic redeterminations of cost will be necessary without a change in the special assessment district, and such redeterminations may be made without further notice to record owners or parties in interest in the property.
